OKOK x ILIJIN x AAM 2020

THE FEEDBACK-LOOP EXPERIMENT

This painting was done as a live collaboration between visual artists Thomas OKOK Gunnarsson & Jacqueline Ilijin and improvisational jazz trio AAM, Arne Forsen, Andreas Axelsson & Mats Dimming.

The studio was set up in 2020 at Bar Paradiso, Stockholm. A camera was installed above the canvas surface laying down, and directly projected onto a wall, in another part of the venue. The Jazz musicians watched what was being painted in now-time. Interpreting the first brushstrokes, they improvised music which Jacqueline and Thomas would again interpret back into visual expression on the canvas, creating a synaesthetic performance in form of an improvised feedback-loop of sound and visual expression.
